JEFFERSON — Simply put, No. 2 Jefferson is a well-oiled machine.
The Dragons (7-0, 3-0 Region 8-4A) scored 42 unanswered points in the first half, racked up 341 total yards, and held Cedar Shoals to just 56 yards in a 49-0 rout on Friday at Memorial Stadium.
The Jaguars (2-4, 2-1 Region 8-4A) were unbeaten in region playing heading into Friday night's game against the No. 1-ranked Dragons.
Malaki Starks continue to impress the area with 117 yards on 12 carries and a touchdown and passed for another 69 yards and two scores.
Starks opened the offensive flurry with 4:37 left in the first quarter on a four-yard touchdown run. The defense responded on the next series as Jaheim Hardy picked up a fumble forced by Rem Maxwell and ran 12 yards for the second score of the game with 1:05 to go in the opening quarter.
After that, Starks connected with Spence Neese on a 27-yard scoring strike, Brian Habeck picked up a loose ball and ran in from five yards for a touchdown. Starks added his second touchdown pass late in the second quarter, finding Levin Jones on the 22-yard pass. Carter Stephenson tacked on a two-yard scoring run with 15 seconds left in the half.
Jordan Perry got the final touchdown of the game with 6:42 to go in the third quarter -- a six-yard run.
