The Humane Society of Northeast Georgia (HSNEGA) will host a Halloween themed adoption event on Friday, Oct. 30 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. called All Howls Eve.

Adoption fees for adult dogs and cats will be discounted, and there will be free Halloween festivities such as pumpkin making crafts and trick-or-treating for kids and pups.

"If you want to bring your pet, it is pet-friendly, just have them on a leash," Dominique Bartolo, Marketing Manager with the Humane Society, said.

For some animals, this event could be the chance to find a forever home. Buzz, a 2-year-old Retriever mix, is the Humane Society's longest tenured dog.

"He's not very comfortable in the stressful kennel environment, he might be barking at you and seem kind of scary," Bartolo said. "But once you get him outside and start interacting with him, he's a completely different dog."

Organizers are enforcing certain rules to make sure the event is safe for everyone. Attendees will be encouraged to social distance and face masks are required. Hand sanitizing stations will also be available.

For more information about the event, as well as a list of adoptable animals, visit the Humane Society's website.

As you wish: Locked Up with the cool cats and kittens at HSNEGA
Usually, when I get #LockedUpForGood as part of the annual Adoption Angel Fundraiser, I'm curled up with a buddy in the large dog runs. It's noisey and a little chilly back there. But the cat room was like hearing tiny, fuzzy angels playing harps emerging from the heavens when they were allowed out to stretch their paws, flick their tails, and get a little playtime.

Taking a gamble, but I need $1,000 into the kitty… for kitties!
Coronavirus has put everyone into a mood, me included. And my sassy attitude, along with constantly snoozing Cairo, my kitty cat alarm clock, every single morning, I’ve been served a warrant once again… and I need to raise $1,000 for homeless pets to get bailed out of “jail” when I get #LockedUpForGood at the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia on September 24.
