Humane Society of Northeast Georgia to host spooky adoption event

The Humane Society of Northeast Georgia (HSNEGA) will host a Halloween-themed adoption event on Friday, Oct. 30 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. called All Howls Eve.

Adoption fees for adult dogs and cats will be discounted, and there will be free Halloween festivities such as pumpkin making crafts and trick-or-treating for kids and pups.

"If you want to bring your pet, it is pet-friendly, just have them on a leash," Dominique Bartolo, Marketing Manager with the Humane Society, said.

For some animals, this event could be the chance to find a forever home. Buzz, a 2-year-old Retriever mix, is the Humane Society's longest-tenured dog.

"He's not very comfortable in the stressful kennel environment, he might be barking at you and seem kind of scary," Bartolo said. "But once you get him outside and start interacting with him, he's a completely different dog."

Organizers are enforcing certain rules to make sure the event is safe for everyone. Attendees will be encouraged to social distance and face masks are required. Hand sanitizing stations will also be available.
