A drug overdose recently lead authorities to a larger drug operation in South Forsyth. Authorities are just now releasing details on the investigation that ended with six arrests and significant amounts of narcotics taken off the streets.
In August, a heroin overdose patient alerted authorities to the drug issue and that’s when the Johns Creek and Forsyth (JCAF) Drug Task Force got involved and began investigating the suspected drug dealer.
According to a Facebook post from the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, they stopped a car on traffic violations that had just left from the drug dealer’s home at 3899 Atlanta Highway in Cumming. The driver of that vehicle turned out to be the drug dealer himself, Christopher Bennett.
A K9 alerted authorities to drugs in the vehicle and a search warrant was obtained. Fentanyl, THC wax and marijuana were all found packaged for sale. Bennett also had heroin in his wallet.
A search warrant for the home found even more drugs. More than 80 grams of Meth, THC wax, Marijuana, a 9mm handgun, and other drug-related objects were also found.
Through further investigation, it was learned that a quarter pound of methamphetamine was purchased and delivered to the residence on the night of the search warrant. Some of the meth was already sold before serving the search warrant. Another individual by the name of Chris Elmore was charged after it was determined he sold the meth.
As a result of the full investigation, six individuals were arrested. A full list of their charges is below.
