At nearly the halfway point of the season, northeast Georgia is still being strongly represented among the state’s leaders in rushing, passing, and receiving.
Flowery Branch’s David Renard, despite having the week off last week, still leads the state, and Class 4A, in passing with 1,034 yards. East Hall’s Clete Cooper sits third overall and second in Class 4A with 1,013 yards, while Dasson County’s Zach Holtzclaw leads Class 3A with 975 yards.
In fact, six of the top 21 passers, all classifications, reside in the northeast Georgia area. J. Ben Haynes of White County has 739 yards, good for 18th, West Hall’s Clayton Jenkins sits 20th with 727 yards, and Gunner Stockton of Rabun County is 21st with 719 yards.
To go with all the high-powered passing attacks, it follows suit that the area also has a pair of classification leaders in receiving. East Hall’s Macere Walker took over the Class 4A receiving lead from the Falcons’ Connor Larson. Walker sits fifth overall with 462 yards. Larson, whose Falcons were off last week, dropped to ninth overall in the state and second in Class 4A with 416 yards.
West Hall’s Rodrigo Lopez now leads Class 3A with 348 yards and is 16th overall. Dawson County’s Jaden Gibson climbed to 21st overall and third in Class 3A with 328 yards after last week.
And in the rushing stats, Town’s County's Kyle Oakes climbed to third in the state with 630 yards and leads Class A Public as well. Habersham Central’s Jackson Clouatre dropped to 20th overall with 508 yards after leading the state going into last week.
