HOMER — Dakota Orr and Carl Cleveland both recorded double-doubles to lead Banks County to a 71-51 win over Oglethorpe County Saturday in Region 8-2A action at the Banks County gym.
Cleveland poured in 18 points and pulled down a whopping 23 rebounds. Orr had 10 points and 10 rebounds while Sawyer led the Leopards (19-4, 10-2 Region 8-2A) with 22 points, including five 3-pointers.
Banks County jumped on the Patriots (4-19, 1-1 Region 8-2A) early running out to a 22-10 lead after the opening frame. The Leopards extended the lead to 36-19 by halftime and cruised in the second half.
Despite sitting in second place behind Social Circle (18-5, 11-1 Region 8-2A) Banks County can still claim the No. 1 seed in the upcoming region tournament if it wins out. The Leopards will play host to Social Circle on Friday in the regular season finale. They beat the Redskins 46-39 two weeks ago in their first meeting.
