By AccessWDUN Staff

AUGUSTA — Four University of North Georgia men's basketball players finished with double figures, but Augusta's Rafael Monteiro finished with 24 points and 10 boards as the Jaguars took down UNG, 83-58, Wednesday night.

Augusta jumped out to an 11-0 run in the first four minutes of the game, but North Georgia answered by tying the game at 26 with 2:30 to play until halftime. From that point, the Jaguars went on a 28-2 run to take the lead for good.

The Nighthawks cut the lead down to 19 points after back-to-back threes from Tyler Dean with just over four minutes to play, but again AU went on a run to stretch the lead back out to as many as 27 late in the game.

NOTES
- Darnell Snyers led UNG in scoring with 13 points on 5-of-9 shooting, including a perfect 3-of-3 from distance. Dean added 11, while Zez Steeple and KJ Jenkins each put up 10 points.

- The Nighthawks were 10-for-22 from beyond the arc, their fifth best shooting night from beyond the arc this season.

- Augusta shot nearly 56 percent from the floor, their third best shooting night of the season.

NEXT UP
