Girls basketball: Branch, Chestatee, Rabun, Lakeview all take region wins; LCA rolls

ALPHARETTA — Ashlee Locke poured in 17 points and pulled down 15 rebounds to lead Flowery Branch to a dominating 62-34 win over Denmark Tuesday in Region 7-4A action.

The Lady Falcons (15-8, 8-2 Region 7-4A) blew open a close 11-7 game at the end of the first quarter outscoring the Lady Danes 41-17 in the second and third quarters to take a 52-24 advantage into the final period.

The win also was the fourth straight for the Lady Falcons after a sluggish middle portion of the season and kept them in no worse than a second-place tie in the region standings.

Morgan Aguilar and Shaina Kriews each had 11 points and Emilee Scott and Bella Brick scored 10 points apiece for Flowery Branch.


CHESTATEE 57,
WEST HALL 31

Chestatee used a 17-1 third-quarter run to pull away for a Region 7-4A win.

The Lady War Eagles (13-10, 5-5 Region 7-4A) led 38-20 at halftime before exploding for the big run.

All five Chestatee starters were in double figures., paced by 15 points from Emma Easterwood. Danielle Bull, Bowen Corley, Maggie McNair and Logan Wiggins all had 10 points for the Lady War Eagles.

Kinsey Wilson led West Hall (4-18, 0-9 Region 7-4A) with 15 points.


RABUN COUNTY 69,
ELBERT COUNTY 55

The Lady Wildcats kept pace with Putnam County atop Region 8-2A with a road win on Tuesday.

Gracie Deetz had 18 points and 8 rebounds to lead Rabun County (19-1, 9-1 Region 8-2A). Laken Stiles added 13 points and 4 steals and Sophie Woodard had 10 points for the Lady Wildcats.


LAKEVIEW ACADEMY 72,
TOWNS COUNTY 24

Lakeview Academy stayed perfect in Region 8-A with a lopsided win over the Lady Indians on Tuesday.

The Lady Lions (17-6, 7-0 Region 8-A) were led Eliza Snyder and Maddy  Towles, who poured in 19 points apiece.  Towles ripped down 9 rebounds and Snyder added 6 rebounds and 4 assists. 

Joelle Snyder and Ellie Kate Madonna each had 11 points and  Jackie Allen had 9 rebounds and 7 assists for Lakeview.  Sidney Corbin had 8 points.


LANIER CHRISTIAN ACADEMY 50,
YOUNG AMERICANS CHRISTIAN SCHOOL 22

The Lady Lightning held YACS to no points in the first quarter and just eight first-half points en route to the big win on the road.

LCA (12-3) led 8-0 after the first quarter and 25-8 at halftime. The Lady Lightning opened up the lead to 45-14 by the end of the third quarter.

Lexie Robertson led LCA with 11 points and Faith Wasden had 10 points. Ashley Avery and Reece Montgomery each had 7 points for the Lady Lightning.
