Jefferson County man arrested for arson

By AccessWDUN Staff

A Jefferson County man has been arrested for first-degree arson and could be facing a prison sentence of up to 20 years.

According to John F. King Office of Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner, Investigators arrested Antonio Rodriquez Jordan, 35, of Wrens, Georgia, on January 17.

The charge stems from his alleged involvement in setting fire to a home in which he was staying in December of 2018. King said he is currently in the Jefferson County Jail awaiting a bond hearing.

“This case is a perfect example of why it is always important to report information having to do with a crime to authorities, no matter how long after the crime has occurred,” said Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King. “The people of Jefferson County are safer with this man in custody. I would like to applaud the local investigators, as well as my Fire Investigations Unit, for staying on top of this case throughout its entirety.”

Investigators with the Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner’s Office assisted the Wrens Fire Department and the Wrens Police Department with this investigation.

First Degree Arson is a felony punishable by a fine of no more than $50,000 or by a prison term between one and twenty years, or both.
