No. 10 UNG women win 8th straight

DAHLONEGA — Nine players ended in the scoring column as the No. 10 North Georgia women's basketball team won its eighth straight contest with an 80-57 win over Columbus State Wednesday night inside the UNG Convocation Center.

After North Georgia jumped out to a 6-2 lead, the Cougars went on a 6-0 run to take their only lead of the contest. North Georgia answered with a 11-2 run of their own to retake the lead midway through the first quarter.

The Nighthawks would go on another massive 17-0 run that started midway through the second quarter and ended with eight minutes to play in the third. The lead for UNG got to as many as 29 in the second half on the way to the 23-point win.

NOTES
- The Nighthawks finished with a 56-24 advantage in the paint.

- Julianne Sutton led all scorers with 21 points, while Abbie Franklin notched 14. Abby Hubert had a career high at UNG with 12 points.

- Kara Groover muscled down a game-high 13 boards.

- UNG shot 61 percent from the floor in the win.
