ATLANTA — Atlanta United returns to action Sunday when it travels to face Montreal Impact at Stade Saputo.

The match is set to kick-off at 5 p.m. ET and will be televised on FOX Sports Southeast.

Atlanta enters the match in third place in the Eastern Conference standings with 54 points with two matches remaining in the regular season, while Montreal sits in ninth with 37 points, five below the playoff line. The match will feature the winners of the U.S. and Canada’s two domestic cup competitions, as Atlanta won its first U.S. Open Cup title in August and Montreal defeated Toronto FC for the Canadian Championship title this Wednesday.

This will be the sixth all-time regular season meeting between the two sides and Atlanta holds a 4-1-0 record. Atlanta is 1-1-0 at Stade Saputo and won the first meeting this season 2-1 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on June 29 behind a Justin Meram brace. The Impact is 7-6-2 at home in league play in 2019.

Montreal is coming off a penalty shootout victory over Toronto FC in the Canadian Championship final Wednesday night at BMO Field in Toronto. It was the Impact’s first Canadian Championship title since 2014 and the trophy also secures Montreal’s spot in the 2020 Concacaf Champions League.

Atlanta will look to bounce back from a 4-1 defeat to NYCFC at Yankee Stadium on Wednesday. At 54 points with two matches remaining in the regular season, Atlanta has tallied the second-most points by a defending MLS Cup champion since 2000 and could surpass Real Salt Lake’s 56 point-mark from 2010 with a win in Montreal.
