SUGAR HILL — The Gainesville girls volleyball team swept a pair of Region 8-6A matches Tuesday on the road at Lanier.
The Lady Red Elephants (19-4, 2-2 Region 8-6A) evened their region record with the wins.
They beat host Lanier 25-8, 25-14) and then followed with 25-22, 25-14 victory over Dacula.
Gainesville next will travel to Johnson to take on the Lady Knights and Lanier Christian on Thursday.
LADY FALCONS FALL IN 7-4A MATCHES ON THE ROAD
Flowery Branch is still looking for its first Region 7-4A win after dropping a pair of matches Tuesday at Blessed Trinity.
The Lady Falcons (13-20, 0-4 Region 7-4A ) fell to the host Lady Titans 25-11, 25-9) and then lost to Denmark in a tight three-set match (25-21 26-282, 15-10)
Sophomore right side Bri Hall had 3 kills and freshman setter Liza Thigpen had 9 assists in the opening match. Against Denmark, senior outside hitter Katie Williams tallied 14 kills and 1 ace, senior middle blocker Sierra Lutz had 5 kills, 2 aces, and .5 block, and freshman middle blocker Emma Witman added 4 kills for the Flowery Branch.
The Lady Falcons next will travel to Winder-Barrow on Thursday in a tri-match with the Lady Bulldoggs and Buford Wolves.
