*Hall County Assistant Public Defender Brett Willis last week completed a teaching assignment at Harvard University's Criminal Justice Institute. Willis was invited to serve as a teaching team member for Harvard's Trial Advocacy Workshop. Willis has been with the public defender's office since its inception in 2006.
*The Humane Society of Northeast Georgia is currently holding an adult dog adoption special thanks to the fundraising efforts of the Adoption Angel Lock-In. All adoptable adult dogs who were in HSNEGA’s Large Dog Adoption Room during the Adoption Angel Lock-In will have $0 adoption fees until September 15 (some restrictions apply). *Gainesville High School alum Kelli Grant Bivins (Class of '92) was recently awarded a Fulbright Teachers for Global Classrooms Program grant sponsored by the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board. Bivins, who teaches English at Cedar Shoals High School in Athens, will travel to Washington in January to meet with other grant recipients and will then travel abroad next summer to address two global issues that are of great concern to her - immigration and climate change.
