By Joy Holmes Multimedia Journalist

The ex-wife of a prominent Atlanta surgeon and chairman of the Atlanta Housing Authority shot and killed her two adult children before killing herself.

Cobb County police say all three bodies were found around 6 p.m. Wednesday inside an upscale townhome in the Vinings area of Cobb County, just northwest of Atlanta.

The AJC reported it is unclear when the shooting took place. The bodies were discovered following a call for a welfare check.

Dr. Marsha Edwards is suspected of killing 20-year-old Erin Edwards; and 24-year-old Christopher Edwards, Jr., police said Thursday.

“Per investigators, evidence at the scene indicated that two victims were deceased due to gunshot wounds,” police spokeswoman Officer Sydney Melton told the AJC. “The suspect was also deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.”

Police have not released any possible motive in the case. They are asking anyone with information to contact the Cobb County Police Department at 770-499-3945.
