Volleyball: Gainesville, North Hall get sweeps; Branch, West Hall earn splits

FLOWERY BRANCH — The Gainesville volleyball team knocked off Flowery Branch and Johnson to sweep the tri-match Tuesday afternoon on the road.

The Lady Red Elephants (10-2) opened the match with a 25-16 and 25-8 win over Johnson. They followed the win over Johnson with a 25-9 and 25-18 win over the Lady Falcons.

Gainesville was led by Ansley Turner led with five aces, 14 kills, and three digs. Isabella Appling had five aces, five kills and three digs. Camille Calkins added three aces and three kills. Kendal Glasper had 10 kills. Isabella Garrish contributed three kills and 18 assists. Karlea Grace Langford had two aces and two digs. Margaret Embry added two aces and five digs. Kassie Coley and Lauren Ware had two kills, block and two digs between them. Abigail Linhart had two aces and six assists.

 

FLOWERY BRANCH GETS SPLIT AGAINST JOHNSON

The Lady salvaged a win in the tri-match with Gainesville and Johnson by beating the Lady Knights in the nightcap.

Senior middle blocker Sierra Lutz had 6 kills, 4 aces, and 1.5 blocks for Flowery Branch. Freshman setter Liza Thigpen had 17 assists and senior outside hitter Katie Williams had 8 kills and 1 block on the night as well.

Flowery Branch next will take part in the Lanier Playdate on Saturday. 

 

NORTH HALL SWEEPS WINDER-BARROW, CEDAR SHOALS AT HOME

North Hall beat Winder-Barrow and Cedar Shoals to sweep the tri-match Tuesday at home.

The Trojans beat Winder-Barrow 25-22 and 25-22 and Cedar Shoals 25-11 and 25-6.

Maci Gillespie led the Trojans with 32 assists, two aces and three kills. Grace Hollifield had 23 kills, two aces, two blocks, eight digs. Madison Brock had six kills and 12 digs. Lexie Martin had 18 digs and three aces. Mackenzie Crisp had five kills and 2 blocks. Alexandria Bryant had three kills and four digs. Maggie Marett had four aces and nine digs. Sarah Davidson had six kills and one block. Karsyn Savage had six aces, with a nine-point service run.

 

WEST HALL SPLITS WITH WHITE COUNTY, DAWSON COUNTY

The Lady Spartans improved to 5-5 on the season after a tri-match with White County and Dawson County.

West Hall fell to the Lady Warriors 25-21, 25-21 but rebounded to knock off the Lady Tigers 25-22, 25-18.

Cadie Shirley had West Hall withh 16 kills and 4 aces. Kinsey Wilson added 11 digs and 7 kills and Erin Emerick had 6 kills and 2 blocks for the Lady Spartans. Chloe Radich and Kaitlyn Courson combined for 32 assists for West Hall.

West Hall will be back in action on Thursday taking on Lumpkin County and Johnson at home.
