Rabies alert issued in Clermont

A rabies alert has been issued in part of Clermont, Hall County officials announced Monday morning.

Authorities said three dogs recently came in contact with a bat that later tested positive for rabies. The incident occurred in the 5400 block of Dahlonega Highway in Clermont.

Positive alert signs will be posted in the area where the bat was located. People living in this area are asked to report any animals that are acting unusually to Hall County Animal Services at 770-531-6830 or Hall County Dispatch after hours at 770-536-8812.

This is the seventh confirmed case of rabies in Hall County this year.
