BUFORD — The Buford girls softball team opened its 2019 season with a 4-2 win over Peachtree Ridge Wednesday at Buford High School in the Rumble at the Ridge tournament.
The game was called after the sixth inning due to time limits.
The Lady Wolves (1-0) got a two-run home run from senior Kara Taylor in the first inning and never trailed. They added single runs in the fourth and fifth innings. Peachtree Ridge scored a pair of runs in the sixth but left the tying runs on base.
Senior Ansleigh Hollifield pitched five innings allowing just one hit and fanning six to get the win. Freshman Olivia Duncan picked up the save pitching the final inning for the Lady Wolves.
Junior Abbi Perkins had two hits, including a double, and drove in one run and scored once for Buford. Freshman Emma Castorri had one hit, one RBI, and scored a run for the Lady Wolves.
Buford will be back in action on Thursday taking on Forsyth Central at 4:30 p.m and North Gwinnett at 8 p.m. Both games will be played at Buford High School.
