MODOC, S.C. - Ben Watkins made his first visit to ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series victory lane on Saturday night with a win at South Carolina’s Modoc Raceway.
The victory was worth $4,000 to the Rock Hill, South Carolina racer.
Watkins took the lead at the halfway point of the feature, and drove to the win from there.
Dennis Franklin led the first ten laps of the event before mechanical issues sidelined him. That moved Daulton Wilson to the point, where he would stay for the next ten laps. His time in the lead ended ten laps later when a flat tire sent him to the pits.
Watkins then moved to the front of the field, where he would stay for the rest of the race en route to the victory.
John Henderson finished in second, with Casey Roberts in third, Cla Knight in fourth and Zack Mitchell in fifth.
Brian Connor, Anthony Sanders, Ahnna Parkhurst, Brian Ledbetter and Jeff Smith rounded out the top ten.
The ULTIMATE Super Late Model series will be back in action again on August 16-17 at Kentucky’s Richmond Raceway. For more information, visit UltimateSupers.com.
