Housing community for Northeast Georgia Medical staff coming spring 2020

The Norton Agency released a development plan near the intersection of Jesse Jewel and Limestone Parkways for a housing village designed for the new wave of medical residents at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

The zoning request was brought to the Gainesville planning and appeals board in early May of last year. The request was for a limit of 70 residential townhomes or condominiums at the west-side of Lakeview Drive, but a press release stated the changes at the hospital transitioned the plan into residency for the upcoming medical staff.

The housing village is called Liberty Lakeview, sits on 14 acres of property, is a quarter mile from the Northeast Georgia Medical campus and is part of the Limestone Greenway Development. The community will include homes for more than 30 healthcare related providers and their families.

"We’re excited about any project that provides attractive and affordable housing options for Northeast Georgia Medical Center’s resident physicians and the rest of our workforce. The more we can do as a community to provide a welcoming and inviting environment for our resident physicians to live, work and play, the more likely we are to keep the best and brightest right here in Hall County," Dr. John E. Delzell, Jr., the vice president of Medical Education for Northeast Georgia Health System and Designated Institutional Official for Northeast Georgia Medical Center, said.

The new project is designed for free standing cottages with options of two or three bedrooms and two or 2.5 bathrooms. According to the press release, homes will be spread out, gated and fenced for privacy and equipped with state-of-the-art upgrades including:

  • LED lighting
  • smart thermostats
  • USB electrical ports
  • luxury vinyl tile
  • sanctuary "quiet zone" study areas
  • tin roofs
  • outdoor living spaces
  • energy efficient appliances
  • pre-installed alarm systems
  • community park with pavilion and play area

According to Emilie Norton Cisco with the Norton Agency, the development will break ground in the next few weeks.
