Georgia-Notre Dame game set for 8 p.m. kickoff

By Georgia Sports Communications

ATHENS — Georgia’s home football contest against Notre Dame on September 21 will kick off at 8:00 p.m. as part of a doubleheader on CBS, the network announced Tuesday.

The Fighting Irish will be making their first-ever trip to Athens for the Sept. 21 clash. Georgia defeated Notre Dame 21-19 on Sept. 9, 2017 in the first matchup of this home-and-home series.  Before the 2017 game, Georgia edged Notre Dame 17-10 at the 1981 Sugar Bowl to claim the 1980 national championship in the two programs’ only other prior meeting.

The Notre Dame game will mark Georgia’s 100th appearance on CBS.  Bulldog teams have a 57-41-1 all-time record on CBS, which has televised more Georgia games than any other network, including UGA’s first-ever televised contest, the 1961 Orange Bowl vs. Missouri.

CBS Sports will announce the first game of the Sept. 21 doubleheader, slated for a 3:30 kickoff, at a later date.
