Dawson County truck fire declared arson

DAWSONVILLE - Investigators with the Safety Fire Commissioner’s Office have determined that a vehicle fire in Dawson County was intentionally set.

The fire occurred shortly after midnight on Thursday, July 18. “The truck was discovered near the intersection of Roscoe Collette Road and Hoppy Lane in Dawson County.

A few hours after extinguishment, a call was received from the vehicle owner reporting it stolen,” said Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King. “The truck was a black 2005 GMC Commercial Grade Truck. If you have any information on the individual responsible, I ask that you call the Arson Hotline at 1-800-282-5804.”

Georgia Arson Control is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the arsonist(s). Calls are taken 24 hours a day and callers can choose to remain anonymous.

Investigators with the Safety Fire Commissioner’s Office assisted the Dawson County Fire Department and the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office with this investigation.
