The suspected gunman in the murder of a Buford teenager has been arrested in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
The Gwinnett County Police Department said Savion Dillard, 20, of Jonesboro was arrested Tuesday, July 16 by the Marshals Task Force in Green Bay. Dillard faces no charges in Wisconsin, so he is expected to be returned to Georgia in the near future to face charges in the shooting death of Branden Gerena, 15, of Buford.
Gerena was shot and killed shortly after midnight on Monday, July 1 outside the Gas Plus convenience store on Thompson Mill Road in Buford.
Investigators said the shooting was the result of a marijuana sale that went awry. Another person with Gerena was not injured.
A second suspect in the incident, Denzel Wilburn, 21, of Buford was arrested July 3. Wilburn has been charged with armed robbery and conspiracy to commit a misdemeanor. Wilburn remains in custody at the Gwinnett County Jail.
Dillard will be charged with felony murder, armed robbery, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
