Flowery Branch City Council set to take up church request again

By Ken Stanford Contributing Editor
Plans by McEver Road United Methodist Church to relocate to Flowery Branch are scheduled to be heard by the Flowery Branch City Council again this week.

Last month, the council deferred action on the matter, with councilman Joe Anglin saying the city needed more time to review the property and the surrounding area.   City staff is recommending denial of the rezoning request, noting that the 11-acre site at McEver Road and Gainesville Street is better suited for commercial development..

The council meets Thursday night at City Hall.
