A Dawsonville man wanted in Gwinnett County and a Cleveland woman face charges in connection with a pair of overnight incidents in southern White County early Wednesday.
Michael Ryan Jones, 30, of Dawsonville was taken into custody and is charged with theft by taking, possession of methamphetamine, fleeing and attempting to elude, as well as numerous traffic charges.
Jones also is wanted for escape from a work release in Gwinnett County.
Jessica Maria Mote, 30, of Cleveland also was arrested and is charged with theft by taking.
About 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, White County deputies responded to Woodlawn Gardens on Ga. 254 regarding a suspicious vehicle, according to Sheriff’s Capt. Rick Kelley. When they arrived, the located a Dodge Charger that has been reported stolen in Stephens County.
While at that location, deputies took a report of a stolen 2001 Chevrolet truck.
After taking the theft report, deputies saw the stolen truck on nearby EB Road and attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver fled.
Deputies chased the vehicle approximately 10 miles, with the truck striking one of the patrol units during the chase, Kelley said. The stolen vehicle wrecked at the intersection of Countyline Church Road and Ga. 254.
The case is ongoing and additional charges are possible.
