As the work continues around the new Exit 14 ramp on I-985 in Hall County, motorists will have a new procedure to follow if they're traveling in the area during the overnight hours this week.
Katie Strickland with the Georgia Department of Transportation said starting Monday, June 17, motorists will not be able to use the northbound lanes at all from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Instead, traffic will be diverted off the highway onto the new ramps.
"You're going to use the exit's entrance ramp and off ramp northbound as the detour while we are continuing to hydroblast the bridge deck that had concrete failures," Strickland said.
Strickland said traffic will be diverted onto a single lane ahead of the work area.
The northbound lane closures will continue through mid-July, according to Strickland. The work will take place on weeknights only.
"Drivers are asked to slow down through the work zone and drive alert," Strickland said.
