Gainesville Police hope public can help explain Friday interstate wreck

GAINESVILLE - Gainesville Police are seeking the public's help in determining the cause of a single vehicle wreck Friday afternoon on Interstate 985 near the Atlanta Highway overpass.
 
According to Gainesville Police Chief Jay Parrish, Aeril Marie Hartz, 21, of Johns Creek was traveling north on the interstate when her silver Toyota Solara left the roadway, overturned several times and came to rest in the southbound lanes.
 
Parrish said it appears no other vehicles or persons were involved in the crash.  Hartz was taken to the Northeast Georgia Medical Center with serious injuries where she remains in critical condition.
 
Investigators are asking anyone who may have witnessed the accident, or who may have information regarding the crash, to contact the Gainesville Police Department at (770) 534-5252.
