SENOIA, Ga. - Four-time track champion and veteran wheel man Clint Smith flexed his muscle on Saturday night at Georgia’s Senoia Raceway.
The Senoia, Georgia resident qualified the fastest of the 31 cars signed in for the National Late Model Super Car Series race and then led flag-to-flag for the victory at the 3/8-mile clay speedway.
“Super excited that we can still get it done,” said Smith. “Every win is special never know when it’s the last one and one will be.”
Through the middle part of the 50-lap race for the National Late Model Super Car Series, asphalt Late Model ace Bubba Pollard pressured Smith for the lead. The two were working through lapped traffic on lap 30 when Pollard slid up the track and clipped the left rear of Smith’s car before spinning in front of the field in turn three. Third place runner Austin Horton clipped Pollard while trying to get past. That left Pollard’s car with too much damage to return after the caution.
Smith led the rest of the way en route to the win and the $3,000 payday. Horton finished in second, with Michael Page in third, Dalton Cook in fourth and Chaz Haskins in fifth.
In other action, Dylan Knowles raced to the lead from the third starting position in the Late Model Sportsman race, and went on to score the victory. Billy Stevenson finished in second, with Jamie Nicholson, Jr. in third, Jason Williams in fourth and McKenna Nelms in fifth.
Colby Darda led flag-to-flag for the win in the Crate Late Model feature. Ahnna Parkhurst followed in second, with Austin Aldridge in third, Blant Duke in fourth and Matthew Wyatt in fifth.
Shannon Stephens scored the Bomber feature victory after the three leaders tangled on the final lap. Wilson Boozer, Dunie Dillard, Vern Miller and Ricky Neill rounded out the top five.
Scott Shelton scored the win in the first Chargers feature. Braxtin Barber, finished in second, with Scott Amoson in third, Dave McWilliams in fourth and Johnny Stinchcomb in fifth.
John Holcomb won the second feature, with Chad Atha in second, Barber in third, McWilliams in fourth and Keith West in fifth.
Ernie Turner took the win in the Hot Shots feature. Tommy Smith, Cory Wilson, Stacey Henderson and Tracy Boswell rounded out the top five.
