GHS standout Patterson sits 9th after opening round of AJGA Preview

BRASELTON — Current Gainesville standout Sam Patterson is tied for ninth after the first round of the AJGA Preview Saturday at Château Élan Golf Club.

Patterson fired a 3-over par 74 on the Par 71, 7,030-yard course.

Patterson started strong with birdies on Nos. 1, 2, and 5 to sit at 2-under. But he finished the day with bogeys on Nos. 7, 8, 10, 11, and 14.

However, he is just four shots off the lead. Diego Prone of Buenos Aires, Argentina shot a 1-under 70 on the opening round.
