Justin Sims takes Thunder 602 victory at Winder-Barrow

By Brandon Reed Reporter

Justin Sims led wire-to-wire to score the Grifco 602 Thunder Series victory on Saturday night at Georgia’s Winder-Barrow Speedway.

Sims, who hails from just up the road in Jefferson, Georgia, started on the outside of the front row alongside pole sitter Rod Roberts. On the drop of the green flag, Sims powered to the outside and pulled clear of Roberts to take the point off of turn two.

From there, Sims paced the field through a series of late caution flags and went on to record the victory.

It’s the second straight spring series victory for Sims at the ¼-mile clay raceway.

Roberts finished in second, with John Price in third, Lee Gray in fourth, and Jeff Robinson in fifth.

Tyler Canup, Michael Smith, Logan Stinchcomb, Mark Wilbanks and Billy Rushton rounded out the top ten.

In other action, John Anderson edged out Gaylen Robinson for the Limited Late Model feature victory. Robin Collins finished in third, followed by Dustin Cason in fourth and Jimmy Webb in fifth.

Chad Puckett took the win in the Modified Street feature, with Ronnie Poole in second, Jordan Poole in third, Aaron Criswell in fourth and Arti Ridgeway in fifth.

Ronnie Poole scored the victory in the Stock V8 feature. Jeff Casper, Mark Chancey, Trey Pilgrim and Jr Carter rounded out the top five.

Justin Taylor was the winner in the Stock 4A feature, with Kyle Braswell second, Zack Sanders third, Allen Cantrell fourth and Brandon Franklin fifth.

Tyler Wood scored the victory in the Stock 4B feature. Derek Lord came home in second, followed by John Martin in third, David Ivester in fourth and Daniel Conner in fifth.
