*Donald Fordham, a family medicine doctor in Cornelia, was among recent graduates of the Medical Association of Georgia Foundation's Physicians Leadership Academy.  The year-long curriculum includes classes that address leadership development, conflict resolution, media relations, and advocacy.

*Forsyth County Commissioner and Vice Chairman Cindy Jones Mills was recently named to a new term on the Association County Commissioners of Georgia Board of Managers.

*Gainesville-based Georgia Mountain Food Bank recently earned the Platinum GuideStar Nonprofit Profile Seal of Transparency, the highest level of recognition offered by GuideStar, the world’s largest source of nonprofit information.

*A 37-year veteran of Barrow County Emergency Services, Marty Garner, has been promoted to EMS Captain.

*Rabun Gap-Nacoochee Middle School students hit the ground running after Easter Break with a Community Service Day on April 23. Instead of heading into a normal school day, students broke into groups and took on projects both on and off campus.

*A recently renovated shooting range at Wilson Shoals Wildlife Management Area near Alto re-opened last week.  It is one of more than 40 archery and shooting ranges currently available on public land in Georgia, according to the state Department of Natural Resources.

*The 37th annual T-H Marine FLW Bass Fishing League All-American will be held on Lake Hartwell in 2020. The tournament showcases the nation’s best weekend anglers and awards the winner a $120,000 cash award and an automatic berth into the FLW Cup.  The event is expected to have a million dollar impact on the Lake Hartwell area.
