By AccessWDUN staff

The search for two fishermen missing after two boats collided near Little Ridge Park in Forsyth County was expected to resume at 8 a.m. today.

The accident happened about 5 p.m Wednesday when a bass boat collided with a 23-to-24-foot cabin cruiser. Two adult males on the bass boat are missing. Three adults on the cabin cruiser were injured and transported to local hospitals, Mark McKinnon, spokesman for the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, said Wednesday night. A man on the cruiser was transported to North Fulton Hospital with injuries to his upper extremities, and two female passengers suffered minor injuries, said Chief Jason Shivers of the Forsyth County Fire Department.

DNR game wardens searched until dark for the missing men using sonar equipment on patrol boats and a pontoon board. McKinnon said the search area ranges from 35- to 85-feet deep with heavy vegetation and trees.

The search will resume at 8 a.m. Thursday.

"We hope to find these men soon to bring closure to these hurting families," McKinnon said. Names of the victims will be released later when the families have been notified. The DNR will handle the investigation, which could last six to eight weeks.

Rescuers are basing their operations out of Little Ridge Park and Shivers said parts of the park will remain closed during the search.
