Search continues for man who fled from traffic stop in Barrow County, dragging deputy in process

By AccessWDUN Staff
Authorities in both Barrow and Jackson counties continue to search for a man who fled from a traffic stop near the Barrow County Airport over the weekend, dragging a Barrow County sheriff's deputy down the road for a short distance.

Samuel Brock, who was last thought to be living in the Alto area, was spotted Tuesday near Highway 124 and Skelton Road in Jackson County. School officials placed school buildings on soft lockdown for a time. Jackson County Sheriff Janis Mangum said authorities were still looking for Brock Tuesday afternoon.

The initial incident involving Brock occurred Saturday, April 27 at 9:50 p.m. The Barrow County Sheriff's Office was assisting the Georgia State Patrol with a traffic checkpoint on Pickle Simon Road near the Barrow County Airport. A vehicle being driven by Brock pulled up to the checkpoint and as officers were checking to see if he had active warrants, he accelerated and dragged the deputy. The deputy sustained minor injuries.

Barrow County Sheriff's Capt. Ryan Sears said in an email Tuesday the deputy is doing well.

Authorities said Brock is wanted for multiple violations and anyone with information on his whereabouts should contact 911.
