By AccessWDUN Staff

The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) is ready to begin a bridge rehabilitation project in Forsyth and Lumpkin counties.

GDOT spokeswoman Katie Strickland said the first bridge to undergo revitalization will be the Majors Road bridge over State Route 400. Beginning Wednesday, crews will close lanes nightly between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. until the work is complete.

The project was awarded in November of 2018 to Ram Construction Services of Michigan, Inc. and has a scheduled completion date of August 31, 2019.

Four bridges in Lumpkin County are also part of the project, according to Strickland. They are:

  • State Route 60/US 19 Bridge over Yahoola Creek
  • State Route 400/US 19 N Bridge over the Chestatee River
  • State Route 400/US 19 S Bridge over the Chestatee River
  • State Route 9/US 19 Bridge over Yahoola Creek

Strickland said all five bridges will get new joints and new driving surfaces.
