Golf: North Hall girls capture first-ever Area title

DAWSONVILLE — The North Hall girls golf team made program history Tuesday at the Area 3-3A championships.

The Lady Trojans fired a 250 at the Chestatee Golf Club to beat second-place Hart County by 31 strokes in taking their first-ever area or region title.

Mikayla Dubnik paced North Hall with a low medalist round of even-par 71. Dubnik finished 7 shots ahead of second place Madison Walley (78) of Morgan County. The Lady Trojans had three of the top six finishers on the day as  Willow Hill shot a 86 to finish fifth and Lyric Sanford posted a 93, which was good for sixth.

Jefferson also qualified for the state tournament finishing fourth with a 284. East Jackson was fifth (304) and Dawson County (316) was sixth. Both the Lady Dragons and Lady Tigers qualified for the state tournament, which will be held at Arrowhead Pointe Golf Course in Elberton on May 21-22.
