The recent arrest of an Oakwood man for allegedly transmitting child pornography on social media has brought to light the cyber tips of such crimes are on the rise.
Head of the Georgia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, Special Agent in Charge Debbie Garner says the GBI tip center is inundated .
"Currently we are averaging 400 to 500 calls a month," Garner said. "Just five and a half years ago, we were averaging 180 calls a month and we thought that was a lot."
In the Oakwood case, investigators said and online social network reported the suspect and local police were contacted.
