Hall County's population has passed the 200,000 mark, according to estimates released today by the U.S. Census Bureau, which singled-out Jackson and Forsyth counties for the percentage of their growth.

The Census Bureau releases population estimates each spring.  The Bureau is already gearing up for the next official headcount, which will be taken next year.

According to this year's report, the population of Hall County increased to 202,148 as of July 1, 2018, up from 199,439 on July 1, 2017.

The report also shows that Jackson County is among the top ten counties in the country when it comes to percentage growth for the year ending last July.  The population there grew by four percent between 2017 and 2018, from 67,716 to 70,422.

The report also shows that Forsyth County was among the top ten fastest-growing counties in the country (percentage growth) from 2010-2018 (175,511 to 236,612).  The increase there was 34.8 percent.
