Brunch Bill to go before Cleveland city voters

By Dean Dyer, WRWH

Cleveland city voters will get an opportunity to decide if the city will extend the time for the sale of alcohol on Sunday.

The city council gave its unanimous approval Monday night to place the so-called "brunch bill" question on a ballot on November 5.

Mayor Shan Ash read aloud the content of the ballot question:

"Shall the governing authority of the city of Cleveland, Georgia be authorized to permit and regulate Sunday sales of distilled spirits or alcoholic beverages, for the beverages purposes by the drink from 11 a.m. until 11:30 p.m."

If approved, the amendment to the Alcohol Ordinance in the city would go into effect November , 2019.
