Alto woman charged in wreck that injured Mt. Airy man Saturday night

A Mt. Airy motorcyclist was injured when a vehicle turned into his path near McDonald’s in Cornelia about 10 p.m. Saturday.

Christopher Ivester, 32, of Mt. Airy was riding his 2004 Yamaha west on Level Grove Road when a 2010 Chevrolet Tahoe turned left from the turning lane of Level Grove Road into McDonald’s, according to Sgt. Casey Coffee of Georgia State Patrol Post 7 in Toccoa.

The driver of the Tahoe, 18-year-old Mireya Negrete Ramirez of Alto, failed to yield to the motorcycle and turned left into its path, Coffee said. The two vehicles then struck head-on.

Ivester was transported by ambulance to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for treatment of suspected serious injuries.

Ramirez, who was not injured, was charged by GSP with failure to yield while turning left.
