Golf: South Forsyth wins Big Red Shootout; North Hall takes Valhalla Cup

GAINESVILLE — South Forsyth accumulated 140 points to win the 2019 Big Red Shootout at the Chattahoochee Golf Club Monday.

The tournament used the modified stableford scoring format and was hosted by Gainesville High School.

Cambridge finished second with 135 points, Gainesville was third for the second consecutive tournament with 128 points followed by North Oconee with 125, Harrison in fifth with 124 points.

Buford’s Jackson Buchanan was the top individual point earner with 47 points.

 

NORTH HALL WINS 1st VALHALLA CUP

The North Hall boys won the first-ever Valhalla Cup golf tournament held at Chimney Oaks Golf Club in Homer and hosted by East Hall.

The Trojans carded a 324 in the six team event, led by low medalist Chase Metcalf, who shot a 78. North Hall's Jake Riley finished second with a 79. Cherokee Bluff's Palmer Weaver fired an 81 to take third.

After North Hall, Commerce was second with a 358, Lakeview Academy third with 365, East Hall fourth at 464, Chestatee fifth at 470, and Heritage-Conyers finished sixth with a 480.
