GREENSBORO — The 12th-ranked Georgia men's golf team improved to second place and junior Will Chandler recorded a hole in one at the Linger Longer Invitational on Saturday.
On Saturday at The Landing Golf Course’s par-72, 6,991-yard layout, the Bulldogs fired a 5-under 283 to move to 8-under 568 for the tournament. Alabama has the team lead at 12-under 564, while Liberty and Louisville are tied with the Bulldogs.
Junior and former Gainesville High standout Spencer Ralston stands seventh as he moved to 5-under 139, just two shy of the three-way tie atop the leaderboard.
Chandler, playing as an individual, made his hole in one on the par-3, 160-yard 17th hole. It was Chandler’s first collegiate hole in one and his third overall.
Ralston and freshman Trent Phillips led the Bulldogs on Saturday as each signed for a 3-under 69. Ralston posted an eagle and three birdies, while Phillips had four birdies. Freshman Will Kahlstorf had an even-par 72, followed by junior Trevor Phillips and sophomore Davis Thompson both at 1-over 73.
Trevor Phillips is 14th at 2-under 142, followed by Kahlstorf in 17th at 1-under 143. Trent Phillips is at even-par 144 and Thompson landed at 4-over 148.
Competing as individuals, sophomore John Hilliard Catanzaro fired a 2-under 70, Chandler finished at 1-under 71, and sophomore David Sikes recorded a 4-over 76 on Saturday. Catanzaro jumped to 5-over 149 for the tournament, followed by Chandler at 6-over 150 and Sikes at 9-over 153.
The Linger Longer Invitational will conclude on Sunday.
