OAKWOOD — The defending Class 5A state champion Johnson boys soccer team is starting to find its offense.
For the second time in as many games the Knights' peppered their opposition, this time taking a 7-2 win over Loganville Friday night in Region 8-5A action at Billy Ellis Memorial Stadium.
The Knights (8-2, 2-0 Region 8-5A) also scored seven in a win over Central-Carroll on Wednesday. They had scored just 13 goals in their first eight games until this week.
Jorge Santos, Cole Bowen, Jose Gomez, and Junior Arrellano each had a goal and an assist for the Knights, who jumped on the Red Devils quick as Juan Carlos Gomez opened the scoring finding the net in the first three minutes.
Alex Arellano and Rudy Orosco also scored goals for the Knight. Jonathan Miralrio also added an assist.
Loganville tied the game at 1 but the Knights pushed its lead to 4-1 and never looked back.
Cooper Bowen got the win in goal allowing both Loganville goals. Isaias Castaneda closed out the final 25 minutes without allowing a goal for Johnson.
The Knights will be back in action on Tuesday at home taking on Walnut Grove in another region battle.

The Johnson girls won their first Region 8-5A match of the season in thrilling fashion.
Maria Rivera scored with 18 seconds left on an assist by Dani Malone to propel the Lady Knights (4-5, 1-1 Region 8-5A) to the win. Jenna DeGroot also got a goal Johnson.
Kellie Tran was huge in goal for Johnson making several outstanding saves.
The Lady Knights will play host to Flowery Branch on Saturday in a non-region match between area rivals.
