Local GOP ready for Hall County Convention this week

By AccessWDUN Staff

Hall County Republicans are gearing up for the 2019 Hall County GOP County Convention this Saturday, March 9.

Organizers have issued a reminder for local Republicans to arrive at the Gainesville Civic Center in advance of the event's 10 a.m. start time. Convention rules dictate that all participants must be in the registration line no later than 10 a.m. Doors will open at 9 a.m.

Georgia's 9th District Congressman Doug Collins of Gainesville will deliver remarks at the meeting, while Hall County Sheriff Gerald Couch will deliver the keynote address.

While the convention is open to the public, there is a $10 admission fee to defray the cost of renting the venue.

What to Expect

  • Only those who were duly elected at the Precinct Mass Meetings on February 9th may serve as delegates to the County Convention. This means that only those people may make motions, second motions, debate motions, and vote on business conducted. Others may be elected as delegates to the District and State GOP Conventions, but they must be elected by the County Convention delegates.
  • Duly elected delegates to the County Convention have been notified in writing by postal mail, by email, or in person.
  • This event is open to the public. If you are not an elected convention delegate, we encourage you to join us as a convention guest! All are welcome to observe the convention and hear from our speakers.
Business To Be Conducted:
  • Officers of the Hall County GOP Executive Committee will be elected for a two-year term.
  • Delegates and Alternates to the District Convention (9th Congressional District of Georgia, April 13th) and the State Convention (May 16th-18th) will be selected at this meeting.
  • Proposed changes to Hall GOP Bylaws will be considered.
