Baseball: Lakeview sweeps DH; East Jackson powers past Bluff

GAINESVILLE — Lakeview Academy swept a doubleheader Tuesday holding off White County 6-3 and then knocking off East Hall 10-3 at Lakeview Field.

In the first game against White County, the Lions (4-1) ralled from a 1-0 deficit with six runs over the second, third, and fourth innings. The Warriors (1-4) scored single runs in the fifth and sixth but could get no close.

Ian Echols earned the win pitching six innings, allowing 3three runs on six hitsand struck out three. Skyler Thellman earned the save pitching a scoreless seventh inning with a pair of strikeouts. Thellman also had a 2-run double in the fourth inning.

Each team banged out seven hits.

Parker Allen led Lakeview with a solo home run in the second. Jordan Thomas had a 2-run single and KJ Millwood, Holden Cooper, Sam Stewart and Andrew Estes each had singles for the Lions.

In the second game, Lakeview had 10 hits and took advantage four East Hall errors. The Lions again fell behind 1-0 in the first but scored three runs in the second, three more in the fourth, and four in the fifth to take control.

Holden Cooper earned the win in relief pitching 3 2/3 scoreless innings and fanning five. 

Andrew Estes had four hits and two RBI and scored twice and Jordan Thomas had two hits and score two runs. Campbell Melson had a single and two RBI, KJ Millwood added a single and scored two runs, and Ian Echols had a RBI single  for Lakeview.

Lakeview will play again Saturday in another split doubleheader against Cherokee at 1 p.m. and White County at 4 p.m.

 

EAST JACKSON 7,
CHEROKEE BLUFF 2

Halton Hardy tossed a complete-game, five-hitter to lead East Jackson to a 7-2 win over Cherokee Bluff Tuesday night.

Hardy allowed just one earned run and sturkc out 10 for the Eagles (4-1).

Cherokee Bluff (2-3) led 1-0 after the second but East Jackson plated four runs in the third. The Bears cut it to 4-2 with a run in the third but the Eagles put the game out of reach with four runs in the sixth.

Cole Sealey had three hits, including a pair of doubles, with an RBI and a run scored for the Eagles. Jarrett Pursley also had three hits and Caleb Adair and Josh Compton each had two hits and one RBI for East Jackson. Josiah Stansell had a hit, an RBI, and scored a run for East Jackson.

The two teams will travel to Commerce on Wednesday to complete the home-and-home series.
