Strong thunderstorms are possible overnight tonight for Gainesville and other parts of northeast Georgia.
The National Weather Service says the storms should start moving into the northwest corner of the state around 10:00 and move southeastward into metro Atlanta and northeast Georgia between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m.
The storms are likely to contain gusty winds, locally heavy rainfall, and lightning. "Brief tornadoes" are also a possibility, according to a posting on the NWS Peachtree City Facebook page.
The greatest threat for stormy weather is along and northwest of a line from Columbus to Atlanta to Gainesville.
In addition, a Flash Flood Watch remains in effect for much of north Georgia and a Wind Advisory has been posted for all day Sunday.
