Five UNG Nighthawks finish in double figures to beat GSW, 92-89

DAHLONEGA - The University of North Georgia men's basketball team had five players score in double digits to get past Georgia Southwestern, 92-89, Saturday afternoon at the UNG Convocation Center.

Shawn Hopkins led the Nighthawks with 23 points.

UNG led midway through the second half by as many as 11, but the Hurricanes went on a run to tie the game, 68-68, with 7:26 to play. The Nighthawks never conceded the lead, however, stretching it back out to as many as 11 with less than a minute to play. A three-point basket by Kwei Lartey as the final horn sounded put the game at its final score.

NOTES
- Hopkins had a game-high 23 points and finished one board shy of a double-double. Ephraim Tshimanga added 17 points; Zez Steeple contributed 15, and Zach Cottrell and Tyler Dean each put up 10.

- UNG got to the free throw line 33 times Saturday and made 22 of those chances. GSW only got to the stripe 10 times and made five.

North Georgia will travel to Columbus State Wednesday night for a 7:30 p.m. midweek tip against the Cougars.
