Strong thunderstorms are possible overnight Sunday in north Georgia and most of Central Georgia, according to the National Weather Service.
In a posting on its Facebook page, the NWS office in Peachtree City says the greatest threat will likely come after 11:00, with storms moving across the region as early as 7:00 p.m. This includes "a line of showers and thunderstorms with low-end risk of damaging wind gusts and/or a weak, brief tornado." The greatest risk of damaging weather will be in Northwest Georgia.
The affected area is along and north and northwest of a line from Americus to Dublin to near Augusta.
Rainfall totals across Northeast Georgia are forecast to range from 1.15 inches in Blairsville and Gainesville to 1.86 inches in Clayton and 1.24 inches in Toccoa. The Clayton and Toccoa predictions come from the Greenville-Spartanburg, S.C., NWS office.
