NORCROSS — The Cherokee Bluff boys suffered their first Region 7-3A defeat Thursday in a rough 69-43 outing against Greater Atlanta Christian on the road.
The Bears (6-5, 3-1 Region 7-3A) came into the showdown for second place having won three of its last four games. But they couldn't overcome a slow start.
GAC (7-3, 3-1 Region 7-3A) opened the game with a 17-6 first quarter and never looked back. Cherokee Bluff pulled within 31-23 by halftime but the Spartans outscored the Bears 38-20 in the second half to run away with the victory.
The two teams are now tied for second place one game behind No. 4 Dawson County (10-1, 4-0 Region 7-3A) as everyone now heads into the holiday tournament season.

Sophomore Kaleigh Addie poured in 30 points to lead Greater Atlanta Christian to a 65-46 win over Cherokee Bluff in Region 7-3A action Thursday night.
Ava Irvin added 7 points to go with 9 steals and 4 assists. Jaci Bolden added 10 points for the Spartans (5-8, 3-1 Region 7-3A).
Cherokee Bluff fell to 2-9 overall and 0-4 in the region with the loss.
