Early Christmas gift: $30K donation for Boys & Girls Clubs of Lanier

By Ken Stanford Contributing Editor

A $30,000 donation has been made to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Lanier by Lanier Partners of North Georgia Inc.

Lanier Partners Vice President Bruce Longmore presented the check to Steven Mickens, the clubs' CEO earlier this week.  The donation is part of the proceeds from the 11th Annual Pirates of Lanier Charity Poker Run, which was held on Lake Lanier in July.

The poker run is part of Lanier Partners of North Georgia’s service to the community focusing on raising funds for children in need.   According to its Website, the agency is dedicated to helping children with special needs, children that are underserved and children that are suffering from cancers and related diseases.

“The Lanier Partners Charity Poker Run is a wonderful way to help our kids," Mickens said.  "We are very grateful to Lanier Partners and their community partners for their support.”

Longmore said, “We keep the needs of local children in the forefront of everything we do. We hold on to our mission of raising money for children with cancer & disabilities, and children that are underprivileged. Doing so enables us to help hundreds of children each year through the Boys & Girls Clubs of Lanier, Camp Sunshine and Camp Twin Lakes.”
