OAKWOOD — The West Hall girls and Chestatee boys both advanced to the opening round of the Lanierland Tournament with wins in the play-in found Saturday.
The Lady Spartans knocked off Johnson 46-30 while the War Eagles took a 61-37 victory over Flowery Branch in the boys game.
For West Hall, Kinsey Wilson recorded her second double-double of the season with 21 points and 13 rebounds. The Lady Spartans will take on Flowery Branch in the quarterfinals of Lanierland on Dec. 27 at East Hall High School.
Meanwhile, Chestatee used a 16-7 second quarter to pull away after back-and-forth affair in the opening period. The War Eagles led 13-8 after the first quarter but extended their lead to 29-15 by halftime. The Falcons trimmed the lead to 39-26 heading into the fourth quarter but Chestatee closed out the game with a 22-11 spurt to pull away.
Brent Nicholson led Chestatee with a game-high 17 points. Kyle Bowmar had a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Jonah Bull and Anakin Rowland chipped in 8 points apiece.
Flowery Branch was paced by Judson Burney's 14 points. Andrew Armstrong had 8 points for the Falcons.
The War Eagles will take on Gainesville in the quarterfinals of Lanierland on Dec. 27 at East Hall High School.
