Boys basketball: Bluff stays unbeaten in 7-3A; JHS, White Co. win; North Hall, Branch fall

RABBITTOWN — Cherokee Bluff moved into an early first place tie in Region 7-3A after taking a stunning 83-44 win over East Hall Friday at the East Hall gym.

The Bears opened the game with a 17-7 first quarter run and blew the game open in the second half outscoring the Vikings 50-23 after halftime.

Bluff (5-4, 2-0 Region 7-3A) got 25 points from Griffin Neville and Bosko Norman added 14 points — all in the second half — as they stayed unbeaten atop the region standings with Dawson County.

East Hall trailed 33-21 at the intermission and the Bears used a 29-14 third quarter to push the lead to more than 20 points. Bluff continued the second half barrage with a 21-9 fourth quarter.

Cherokee Bluff will travel to Fannin County on Friday in another Region 7-3A matchup.

East Hall (1-5, 0-3 Region 7-3A) will head to Johnson in a non-region game.

 

GREATER ATLANTA CHRISTIAN 45,
NORTH HALL 34

The tROJANS saw their five-game win streak Tuesday night at the North Hall gym.

The Trojans (6-2, 2-1 Region 7-3A) were led by 11 points from Luke Gunter.

GAC was paced by Cliff Baskerville with 19 points. Lamar Randolph added 16 points for the Spartans.

North Hall next will travel to Dawson County on Friday.

 

WHITE COUNTY 63,
WEST HALL 54

The Warriors opened the game with a 14-4 first quarter run and held on in the second half in snapping a three-game losing streak and snagging their first Region 7-4A win of the season.
 
White County (4-5, 1-2 Region 7-4A) had a big night at the free throw line going 21-of-30 while the Spartans (3-2, 1-1 Region 7-4A) was just 10-of-18 at the line.
 
West Hall did trim the lead to 26-18 by halftime and pulled within 44-39 heading into the fourth quarter. But the Warriors pulled away in the final minutes.
 
Silas Mulligan paced White County with 16 points. Jaden Yeh and Cooper Turner each had 13 points for the Warriors.
 
The Spartans were led by Sawyer Passmore with 15 points. Quincey Holcomb added 11 points for West Hall.
 

JOHNSON 68,
BETHLEHEM CHRISTIAN ACADEMY 63

The Knights used a huge third quarter run to rally for a win at The Palace.

Johnson trailed 18-9 after the first quarter and 35-30 at halftime. The Knights exploded for 27 third-quarter points and led 57-44 heading into the fourth quarter and held on down the stretch.

Senior Jesse Harbin poured in 30 points, including five 3-pointers, to lead Johnson (2-5). Senior Buddah Johnson added 15 points and sophomore Jackson Vandiver had 10 points for the Knights. Johnson also drained 9 3-pointers as 10 different players scored.

Bethlehem was led by Jacob Adams with 17 points.

Johnson next will play host to East Hall on Friday.

 

BLESSED TRINITY 62,
FLOWERY BRANCH 41

The Falcons are still looking for their first win of the season after dropping a Region 7-4A game on the road.

The Branch (0-10, 0-4 Region 7-4A) fell behind quickly, 17-5, in the first quarter and trailed 35-20 at halftime. The Titans (5-6, 2-1 Region 7-4A) blew the game open with a 15-6 third quarter for a 50-26 lead.

Jax Bouknight led the Titans with 16 points. Jonathan Franchi added 11 points for Blessed Trinity.

Judson Burney paced Flowery Branch with 12 points. Trevor Gurske added 10 points for the Falcons.
