And then there was one.
Only one northeast Georgia area football team is alive in the Georgia High School Association playoffs after Friday night's quarterfinals round.
Buford navigated tough road waters as the Wolves moved into the semifinal round in Class 5A.
Buford knocked off No. 1 Carrollton, 24-21, on a Hayden Olsen 28-yard field goal as time expired. It is the first win over a No. 1 team for the Wolves (12-1) since beating Deshaun Watson and Gainesville in 2013.
Across the state over in Cordele, Jefferson rallied but fell short against Crisp County in a 22-20 loss in the Class 3A playoffs.
And in Class 2A, Rabun County's offense struggled 7 hours from home in a 38-24 loss to Thomasville. It was the Wildcats' first loss of the season.
